When writing a blog in order to make money from it you must remember that content is the king of a blog. The more useful and interesting the post is, the more people will want to come back. You can blog on just about anything, but the most important thing is making it interesting.

There are too many people out there that will tell you if you have a blog on computers you can only talk about computers. This is not true. If you have a blog on computers, you are most likely doing a computer related job and this goes the same for your visitors. One of the best ways to increase traffic is to have one interesting, off topic post for about every 10 posts. Keep your readers happy. Now one thing you should not do is talk about that guy in the office that always says something stupid around the water cooler. Now if that same guy was changing the water and dropped the bottle and this clumsy accident led to a surge in the office electrical system that shut down the entire network and the guy ended up getting a shock. Then by all means go ahead. But you must remember that off-topic posts have to be very interesting, or you may end up loosing viewers.

Participate in other blogs and forums. Become a regular to other blogs and leave comments. This will lead to visits.

Add multiple tags to every post. This will create more pages that will create increase in traffic. Don’t forget to always ping your blog after every post, regardless as to if a “ping” is standard in the software.
